With a 75-year history and network of 450 associates across the design economy, Design Council’s purpose is to make life better by design.

As an independent charity and the UK Government’s advisor on design, they work from grassroots to government, delivering programmes, producing world-class research, and influencing policy. These programmes cover the built environment, public sector design and social innovation, and business innovation.

Across 2019 TDC worked with the Design Council to provide a mix of communications and press office services with the goal of building wider awareness of the Design Council’s work. This included providing support across major projects and campaigns.

TDC undertook a targeted press office programme of news announcements, thought leadership pieces and profile opportunities promoting key figures within the organisation – including Chief Executive Sarah Weir and Chief Design Officer Cat Drew – as well as major programmes including the Design Council’s Places campaign and prestigious annual Spark Showcase.

Coverage highlights included the likes of Financial Times, BBC Radio, Evening Standard, City AM, Yorkshire Post and Press Association.

For TDC, as a communications business at the heart of the creative industries, it was both an honour and privilege to work on these projects with an institution so pivotal in driving forward the design sector.
